(Anonymous) 2026-02-22 09:41 pm (UTC)(link)I thought Remmick/Sammie as a popular ship would be an indication the Sinners fandom is being slightly less racist than is usual, because most of the time, obvious ships DON'T get shipped because they are interracial/involve black characters in favor of some other white guy/white guy pairing (e.g. what happened to Gus/Shawn from Psych). Remmick/Sammie seemed like the obvious ship that would normally get passed over by fans because they're not interested in black characters, so I thought people would see its popularity in Sinners fandom as a refreshing turn for the better. Weird.
I like Smoke/Stack, but since it's an incest ship, I get that it's not to everyone's taste. And you can still get antis coming for your blood for admitting you like *any* incest pairings in *any* fandom. Even though I like Smoke/Stack, I'm not into this movie enough for it to be worth casually mentioning on my blog that I ship it -- it's just really not a great time to have incest ships. :/
