In the comment secret thread, someone mentioned they'd like to see more fun, light-hearted adventure in both sci-fi and fantasy, less grimdark world's-gonna-end stakes. I agree wholeheartedly.

Definitely agree. There has been soke "cozy" books in the genres but that is often too much the other way for me. I just was fun adventure scifi and fantasy. No grimdark. No assholes as heroes. But also need at least some conflict.

I don't mind the low stakes stuff, but there's a lot of room between "the world is ending in blood and sacrifice if we don't defeat the Lord of Darkness" and "retired orc mercenary deals with city bureaucracy and small business owner problems as she opens a coffee shop". Mid-stakes? That'd be good.
