What's your favorite chip flavor?

(Anonymous) 2026-02-26 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
That I can get, sour cream and cheddar. That I can no longer get and I miss them so much, Tikka Masala.

Sour cream and cheddar or sour cream and onion for me.

Incidentally, I hate actual sour cream as a food.

The best chip flavor currently are the delicious Pringle-like chips that I tried while I was in Japan last year that tasted like broiled meat. The second best chip that I can no longer get are the Korean BBQ chips that Lays had as part of a temporary competition, and which were made with actual beef tallow.

Yes, I do like my meat chips. Third best options is a tie with sour cream and onion, and corn chips. Any corn chip, including Fritos scoops, Dorito, and actual tortilla chips.

Oh, I love chili cheese Fritos!

There's also a tortilla chip I really like; it's the restaurant style Tostitos. There's a blue label and a red one, and the blue is better; the red ones are too breakable under dip pressure.

Dill Pickle, just Mmmm~!

Trader Joe's blue cheese. It's seasonal. So good.

Doritos: Salsa Verde, Spicy Sweet Chili, Cool Ranch, several discontinued/promotional flavors over the years

Any kettle potato chips but either jalapeño or salt n' vinegar flavor mostly.

Baked or fried Cheetos, especially with a spicy or jalapeño flavor.

RIP to the Smokey Red BBQ Doritos from the 90s. 😔 Those were SO GOOD. The Sweet & Tangy BBQ ones they came out with recently are pretty good, although not quite the same, and I fear they may have already been discontinued, because the last time I looked for them, I couldn't find them.

Oh, those? They kind of remind me of Fritos, except in larger form. Never knew Smokey Red BBQ ones existed though.

Available: Sour cream and cheddar (or onion), also salt and vinegar.
Unavailable: General Tso's sauce (a Target house brand that no longer exists).

Christmas Tree and no I’m not kidding. The British chain Iceland used to sell them seasonally and they were brilliant! I was shocked tbh because we only bought them as a joke and then had a bet centered on trying them. Sadly they got discontinued after 2016 or so and I moved to America a few years ago so doubtful I’ll ever get to have them again even if they’ve brought them back.

Is it like pine flavoured? Peppermint? I am very interested.

Pine flavored and I know that sounds awful but it was so good! If I remember correctly, the pine scent was stronger than the pine flavor but it did taste like pine and potato.

?.. that honestly. Doesn't sound too bad actually. Off hand I can't even say what pine tastes like, but on a chip? I think I'd like it.

This... is so intriguing to me. It sounds low-key terrible on one hand, but on the other hand, I see how it could potentially be AWESOME.

If you like pine, try Strega Italian liqueur.

I rotate through sour cream and onion, sour cream and cheddar, nacho cheese doritos, and cool ranch doritos.

I'm boring. Just salted. And I prefer popcorn to chips.

I will say regular doritos are probably my favorite chips. I just love cheese. Cheese its are amazing too. But unfortunately my stomach doesn't like cheese very much. So I can only occasionally have.

Sadly, I have met very few chip flavors that I DON'T like. Hence why I am fat. Pretty sure at least 15-20% of my excess body weight is due to chips, no joke.....

Favorite I would probably have to go with sour cream & onion potato chips, but I also love cheddar & sour cream, cheese & onion, BBQ, plain, All Dressed, loaded baked potato, Cheetos, Doritos, plain corn chips, plain tortilla chips, chili cheese Fritos, salt & vinegar, chili lime, and on and on and on...... the only ones I really don't like are the really hot ones, and dill pickle flavor.

Plain salted kettle chips are so crunchy and great with a glass of wine! And some sour cream and onion dip.

Bugles. I also like those Hawaiian potato chips, either regular or onion.

Across most brands, salt and vinegar.

Multiple times in my life have I eaten enough salt and vinegar crisps to destroy the roof of my mouth. Hurts worse than any time I’ve burned the inside of my mouth. That combination of sharp crisp edges, acid, and salt is really killer.

More specifically, there’s one brand around here that has a Honey Dijon flavour that I absolutely love.

I don't think they make them anymore, but Lay's had a ginger wasabi flavor that was delicious.

There's this chip brand in my country that has a flavour called "oriental" and it's so good. Slightly spicy and strong notes of sumach along with other middle eastern spices.
Other than that, I like salt&vinegar but I can't eat a lot of them because they give me heartburn.
