Something that isn't given away in the first ten minutes. But as other anon established, my knowledge of these films, especially the later ones are finicky to non-existant.
To answer your question, a good mystery in my eyes, is a plot based around a major quandary or unknown as it's main point. A mystery that stays unsolved until all the pieces come together. This is super basic, but I'm under the weather right now, so anything else I added just did not make sense.

Clue is my favourite movie for example. By how clever the actors are, thought out the story, how each ending is legitimate, but the "real" ending explains it all.

DA

So you clocked the whole vial murder plot in the first ten minutes?

From their other comments it sounds like maybe they haven’t seen all three and certainly don’t have a strong memory of them.

If they came out of the first one with the impression that it wasn't a mystery, I have to wonder if they ever even watched it.

+1 This whole thread is bizarre. It's like if I commented on a James Bond secret and said oh well, see, none of the Bond movies are actually spy movies and then after some questioning, I admitted that oops, I didn't know they'd made any more Bond films after Licence to Kill and my memory of the films I did watch is pretty fuzzy...

Thank you. I'm glad someone is listening.

I’m listening, but you still have an idiosyncratic definition of what “a mystery” is. And you’re trying to apply it to movies you don’t actually remember, which makes this even messier.

Sorry, I agree. My brain is not working right now, and my fingers did not want to listen. Thanks for the heads up though. My head is killing me, and I need sleep.
Goodnight.

No worries, hope you feel better!

Do you mean the first movie? If so, yes? The first scene had her thinking she mixed up the vials in the first place?
It was suspenseful, there was a hint of mystery, but the movie as a whole was more suspense than an actual mystery. Like M. Night Shyamalan and his twists not being mystery or whatever either, idk. This isn't news, what's with the interrogation?

(Anonymous) 2026-02-26 02:12 am (UTC)(link)
Ah, you're full of shit. Got it.

(Anonymous) 2026-02-26 02:56 am (UTC)(link)
Good for you I guess? You showing absolutely nothing for a film I myself said they couldn't remember. Your back pats must be glorious.

Another NAYRT - then why even comment on something you haven't seen?

(Anonymous) 2026-02-26 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
The airt asked what I thought a mystery was. I answered. Before that I forgot they came out with more movies that I'd seen, corrected myself right after. I'm sick, sue me.

Your knowledge of the films are "finicky to non-existant" and yet you still felt confident enough to declare that none of his movies are actual mysteries? That's... odd.
