Re: San Remo!

UHM Why would anyone here watch Sanremo, apart from the very few Italian nonnies we have here? Asking if someone is watching Eurovision is one thing; that's an international event that is hosted in English, but Sanremo is exclusively in Italian with only Italian song (actually I'm not sure if extensive non-Italian verses are allowed). I'm Italian and even I don't watch it. It's good only for the trash and memes, but you need to be particularly attuned to Italian pop culture to get that.
Personally, I don't watch it because it too long, the songs usually don't appeal to me and I find the humour not of my taste 99% of the time.

Are you Italian? Since you wrote San Remo instead of Sanremo I guess not. How did you discover the festival? I'm curious.

I'm not Italian, no. But I live in an area with a lot of Italian roots so a local channel used to broadcast it. My aunt's favourite musician is Andrea Bocelli and when flipping through channels one day he was performing on Sanremo. I've watched it every year since.
Honestly, I loved it when Fiorello made it his mission to make it go as overtime as possible. Ever since Conti took over it ends on time, you can see his blood pressure skyrocket every second they go over.
