We'd take sandwiches and leave them in a cooler in our car. Come lunch time we'd leave the park, get stamped for reentry, and chow down. That made sense for for my family (three kids) because we ate like locusts and funnel cakes are *expensive*. I don't know for sure that you're allowed to leave and reenter the park OP is talking about, or if the size of the park/parking lot would make it feasible.

The problem with off season trips (or even weekdays) is the park will adjust to lower expected crowds by shutting things down so there's less to do and there are still long lines. And that assumes it's open at all.

There are tips and tricks associated with every specific park, and there might be a blogger out there who can help. But parks are just lower quality all around than they used to be. Disney is the prime example but no one is immune.

I agree, although I haven't been to a park in years and years, I also have happy memories of them and sometimes when I'm bored I'll browse through Reddit or something of people talking about their park experiences. And like you said, there are better and worse times to visit, and ways to have a better experience that OP could check out for the specific one they go to. You're right about things being closed and parks having less staffing during the slower days/off season, which really sucks. And it just kind of snowballs because people get frustrated with it and go even less so the park makes less money so they cut staffing and operating hours even more and on and on...
