I think you're missing out. I really enjoyed The Social Network, Hidden Figures, Apollo 13, Unstoppable, Zodiac, Titanic, American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson, Band of Brothers, From Earth to the Moon, All the President's Men, and Spotlight, among others. I liked Bonnie and Clyde, Moneyball, Erin Brockovich, Almost Famous, Catch Me If You Can, Glory, The Imitation Game, The Blind Side, and some of Mindhunter well enough. And, I hear The Crown, Hamilton, and Chernobyl are pretty good too.

But if you find RP fanfic creepy, this would probably be much worse since not only are all of them are about real people and contain at least some fiction (some a lot more than others), but they reached a much wider audience, a lot of that audience either believed all of the story was true or didn't know which parts were made up, and all kinds of people got paid for each of them.
