True, but nothing is going to beat people playing "Good Luck, Babe!" as the going away song at het weddings.

I dunno, the fandom nickname for a character has been accepted and used by the creators and the actor and that's amazing.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, oh no. xD

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I love when true crime videos and podcasts do that, too. But I think what people often see are the ones who don't. The creators who do makeup while talking about the worst days of some family's lives.

Oh word.

Like some of them work but then you’ll have one that just does not fit at all and I end up squinting at the screen. S2 using Alanis Morissette’s You Oughta Know for a Kate and Anthony moment still vexes me because like hell it fits the situation at all.

And much as I adored s4 using The Night We Met for a Benedict/Sophie moment sure was a choice. It worked when leading to the Queen and Lady Danbury, but it spends a large portion with Ben/Soph and uh, romance is the furthest thing from my mind with that song. lol.

Honestly I think the original pieces they compose for the seasons are so much better. The love theme for this season is absolutely beautiful and suits the characters so well.

I'm not familiar with those shows, but assuming that OP means the absolute worst examples of true crime doesn't seem like a good faith interpretation.

I just let them know that telling me I can't ship that or like this makes me ship and like that thing harder to spite them. 😎

I named my Pokemon Go gumshoos Drumpf. And into the bin of Never Use This Pokemon it went!

Those are the absolute best outcomes of a true crime show. Increased awareness and solved crimes.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly though why does it matter what the actors think? Id rather they not be aware of fandom.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Going on vibes is the current thing to do.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:39 pm (UTC)(link)
This has been a peeve of mind with media for a long time, very few shows or movies seem to actually listen to the lyrics of the songs that they’re using.

+1

most of the true crime I see pass my dash or advertised for cable shows is not for unsolved crimes. not every "true crime" is Unsolved Mysteries.

DA

+1. Being back the fourth wall!

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Right? If commercials can be tone deaf and not paying attention to the lyrics, why not shows?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, as long as they don't act like him or smell like him, they're probably okay.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:55 pm (UTC)(link)
Secret maker! You are a star! Thank you for making my secret so awesome!

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:56 pm (UTC)(link)
A false hope they often have no say in, and not all of them agree it brings hope at all. You can like true crime but don't pretend it's anything else but what it is.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-10 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
This, please.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-11 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
I agree! I think it def fucked up fandom. People put so much more stock in what actors or directors say when really it shouldn't matter. Write your fic, make your art or fanvids, and have fun. Fandom isn't supposed to be about being "right" or getting people who aren't even in the fandom to try to validate you or something.

I for one appreciate the effort!

I feel like thats kinda mean to them but then I also remember the jibes I made about Purugly when I was younger because I kept losing to that one normal gym with one. And at the time I was kinda borrowing my little sister's DS to play Diamond/Silver and I couldn't save so.... yeah.. I had two -three hours to play and get as far as I could while she was at school and then start over again the next day.

(I'm not saving over someone's Pokemon game. I'm not a monster)

But now I feel sorry for the poor critter. I mean imagine your name literally just being calling you ugly. YIIIKES.

My little brown cat had my ex sussed long before I did.

This is the sort of thing that would come up at conventions.

The character in question doesn't have a real name because he's a body double for a major character. His nickname references this.

Character: Robert House.
Body double nickname: Bobby Apartment.
