A big clue that the Earth Alliance in Babylon 5 is the evil version of Star Trek is their ship names. Their "hero" ships are named for genociders like Agamemnon, Cortez, Churchill.

Nice foreshadowing, JMS, nice.

Babylon 5 secret! Also, the Earth Alliance isn't full evil. It has evil parts, and the people in charge for a while were evil. But there are good parts left, that was the whole point of the civil war. And the good won out.

Exactly. It was complicated, and I liked that a lot.

Yup. Complicated. And we see in that episode that shows the future history of humanity that even after our victory, humans still have backslides and complications. They get there eventually, but it takes a very, very long time and a whole lot of work.
