Made red Thai curry!

It turned out pretty well! https://i.imgur.com/R0XbqHM.jpeg

I'd get a better brand of curry paste next time. I'd also season the chicken better and not use green beans.

In my World Mythology class at the high school where I teach, I designed and added a unit on Yoruba Mythology from scratch. We already did Greek, then Norse, and are wrapping up Celtic now. After Yoruba, we will do Egyptian Mythology and finish the semester with Japanese Mythology. I'm actually proud of all of my World Mythology creations. It's a class where I can be the creative teacher I want to be (the other class I teach is American Literature and we have to follow state curriculum).

That sounds fantastic. Lovely to hear that you do have some leeway on the curriculum and that you’re using it well. I definitely would have appreciated something like that at school.

Kitchen Reorganizing

(Anonymous) 2026-03-17 12:07 am (UTC)(link)
I just finished decluttering the upper cabinets in the kitchen and moving things around. The goal was to leave the everyday and muscle memory stuff in the same places but get rid of the old plates we don’t use anymore, set up a better grab and go flow for things like the new salad bowls, and make the “What the fuck do we do with this?” cabinet into useful and meaningful storage. It feels so good to finally have it all organized and know I accomplished one of the tasks I set for myself.

I won a big case last monday. My client did so well in court. She and her son had been through so much awful stuff. And together we won. She gets to stay in the US and become a permanent resident. Feel good about that. There are so few wins these days. That is one I really wanted to win.

I've been promoted to head of my department. I'm terrified but I know my job inside and out and everyone seems happy for me so... here's hoping!

Congrats! I'm sure well earned.

A small thing but I'm still proud

(Anonymous) 2026-03-17 12:21 am (UTC)(link)
I ran out of yarn at the very end of my blanket I am crocheting and of course it isn't easily available and I had to order more. The yarn came in last week but I've been putting off finishing my blanket. I will often get really road blocked by tiny things and just the task of switching over to the new skein put me off getting back to finish the project. Well tonight I actually did it. I didn't finish the blanket but I got the new yarn switched and crocheted about half a row and I feel very accomplished.

Sometimes it is the tiny victories that can make your day.

That is a big thing, so kudos to you! I loathe changing skeins and it’s always a stumbling block. Good for you for getting over that hump.

DA asking: why is changing a skein of yarn difficult? (I don't crochet or knit; that's why I'm asking.)

Didn't kill myself today.

I am very proud of myself for doing something today. I posted a few days ago about how I lost my job and have been depressed and just lacking in joy, and have been wasting too much time scrolling Reddit etc. Well, today I made an effort and cleaned out a lot of stuff from my closet. I gathered up 3 bags of clothes to donate, a bag of trash, and a bunch of out-of-season clothes to rehome for now. This is something that I have needed to do for YEARS, and finally, I did it. Thanks again to those of you who commented. Next on my agenda, is to clean out my car.

Good for you! Stuff like this makes a difference in my mental health. It seems like such a small thing, but honestly, there's something about clean, clear spaces vs. cluttered that's just more restful on a low key basis. That adds up. Good luck tackling your car!
