Depends on how its written, for me. If the writing makes it clear that he has a genuine desire to make the world a better place - a genuine desire to protect people and facilitate societal change for the better - then that's the kind of character I love way more now, in 2026, than I would have in 2006. I can easily forgive him for not always going about it in the healthiest way, due to his own trauma, as long as I sincerely believe he's trying, and that at least half of his motivation is coming from a place of wanting to do good, even if the other half is all tangled up in a bunch of grief and maladaptive coping impulses. The Batman (2022) does a great job of this, IMO.

With that said, I do really hope that in the sequel film, Bruce is shown making real efforts at using his wealth and status to facilitate positive change in Gotham. He can hate ever minute of it, and based on the version of him we see in The Batman, it seems likely that he will hate every minute of it, considering how deeply uncomfortable he looks in his own skin whenever he has to appear in public as Bruce Wayne. But I think we need to see him making an effort on that front, and not just as Batman. But the 2022 film was so good that I do have some hope that the sequel will actually deliver on that front.
