I am aware of Lily Orchard only in her capacity as a person who has uniformly bad takes. But is anyone able to explain WHY anyone cares about her shit takes to begin with? Is it just because she's a lolcow? Genuinely asking.

At the time she released that Steven Universe video, she was popular enough that her takes basically swayed the entire fandom and turned it into a place where it was encouraged to bully fans for not agreeing with all of Lily's takes. You like that the Diamonds and Rose are nuanced? You want them to be redeemed? You are a literal genocide supporter and fascist. So is Rebecca Sugar, who deserves to die and be told so. Speaking of transphobia, it was perfectly fine to call Rebecca Sugar a cis white woman (insultingly, of course) when you talked about them, even though they're nonbinary.

The SU fandom was already a dumpster fire of antis and fans had been bullying each other for various headcanons and artworks, but Lily's video changed the interpretation of the show itself and even liking it at all, transformed its fandom legacy from its influence on queer rep in kids' shows to its "fascist apologism," and brought all that to the people working on the show.

If I had known LO was responsible for the "you're a genocide supporter if you're okay with the narrative not 'punishing' the Diamonds!" nonsense, I would have despised Lily that much sooner.

I first encountered her in MLP fandom and from seeing her analysis videos there I became aware of her really obnoxious attitude. She would state opinions like facts and on one occasion basically stated that she didn't like seeing Diamond Tiara (a bully character but also a CHILD) get redeemed and but that whatever suffering she endured (implied verbal abuse from her mother) was a sign of the universe being just or something. (nevermind that her mother's verbal abuse likely contributed to or caused the bullying behavior considering... again Diamond Tiara being a child and influenced by her mother's snobby attitude) .

And also there was a whooole debacle about her writing this really messed up MLP fanfic with messed up morals (including and endorsing attitude toward PEDOPHILIA) and then later becoming a hardline anti and trying to put the blame/responsibility for the darker/more fucky parts of the fic on others or just outright getting angry when people mention it.

I never cared until it was revealed they sexually abused their younger sister. I don't care if someone has bad media takes or writes weird/creepy fanfiction online, people can block and get over that. But IRL abuse is where I draw the line.

Then you're part of the problem. Child abuse makes me want to cry and throw up, but "All you have to do is not abuse someone and I'll respect your marginalized status!" will make me stay away from you because our identities are not weapons for you to use on anyone no matter how horrible they are. Lily Orchard deserves the same punishment for being an abuser that anyone with all societal privileges deserves. Not less and not more.

I think you need to parent up. This isn't someone justifying using slurs for Lily Orchard (i.e. a response to the original secret) -- it's a comment specifically responding to someone asking out of curiosity why do people even care about Lily Orchard given it's so easy to just ignore people with consistently bad takes, like why did she get big in the first place if her takes are bad, or why are people still talking about her if her biggest sin is having shit takes. The comment you're replying to is answering the second question by saying her biggest sin isn't just having shit takes.

OP's reply is (I assume) acknowledging that's a more serious issue with Lily Orchard than the ones mentioned in the secret. Presumably, OP's position still stands, though -- you can perfectly well critique real problems about Lily Orchard (which apparently also includes IRL abuse) without using transphobic slurs. I think you, OP, and the person you replied to are all on the same page that someone abusing someone IRL still isn't cause to be transphobic about them.
