Age-gap ships

(Anonymous) 2026-03-23 11:34 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you ship that has the biggest age gap between the characters involved?

A silly one would be Castiel/Dean. One is a billion years old and one is in his 30s.

For more realistic, Stannis/Sansa or Tywin/Sansa. That is about a 30-40 year age gap (tho I typically read slightly aged up Sansa).

Dean/Cas! Still my favorite Supernatural ship, even if I'm not really in the fandom anymore.

Yeah, the idea of age gaps gets so weird when you have supernatural characters.

I was looking up Buffy timelines recently and remembered that even Darla/Angel has an age gap of ~150 years.

They tend to be in fantasy or scifi for me where age has less meaning.

Like, Celebrimbor/Sauron. Celebrimbor is thousands of years old, but Sauron is older than the world.

Yeah, it's destiel for the actual biggest age gap.

Biggest age gap between two humans is uhhhhh 18-48 years. No, I don't mean one character is 18 and the other is 48, I mean the low end of age gap I'll ship them at is 18 years difference, but they also have a 48 year age difference.

Starker, with a 30 year age gap. For shipping purposes, I go with a fanon version of the MCU in which Tony Stark didn't die in Endgame, and the snap got undone quickly (or it simply never happened). I tend to prefer when they get together when Peter is in the 18–20 age range, which canonically would make Tony 49–51. However, there's something I find really satisfying and elegant about the idea that Tony is an even thirty years older, so I tend to just headcanon Tony as being born in 1971 rather than 1970.

Usually non-human/human ships

Probably Geralt/Jaskier for recent ships.

Back in the day I shipped Angel/Wesley and dipped my toes in Spike/Xander for a hot minute, both of which were huge age gaps since two of them were old ass vampires.

Documentaries and educational films/series?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-24 12:18 am (UTC)(link)
Anybody have any streaming recommendations? I'm always looking for a good documentary to watch. (Please, not reality-show things like Ice Road Truckers.) I like ones about any kind of history in particular.

NOVA and Nature are my go to shows for this.

Also, I just recently watched The Inquisitor, a docu about Barbara Jordan. It was so well done and I learned a lot about an important figure I sadly knew little about.

Tubi has a ton! With an ad blocker, there are not tons of commercials.

Dan Jones has a long and pretty good documentary on the Plantagenet dynasty of England:

Lindsay Nikole youtube channel does edu-docs one on history of cats was amazing prehistoric stuff to present day and she also covered human evolution including up to date information - she always disclaims "that we know of" because science leads to new information all the time.

another channel that touches on some historical stuff is History & Hearsay on youtube. Christina (and often cute doggo Stella) go over historical stories that sparked interest when they were news back in the day. She doesn't claim to be a historian but she does do research and credit her sources.

I went for a walk outside today

(Anonymous) 2026-03-24 01:16 am (UTC)(link)
Quite awhile ago I posted asking advice about walking pads. I was dealing with depression and wanted to get the walking pad because I was having trouble leaving the house for walks since my dog died. Well I got one and have been walking on it after work pretty consistently, which has been great for both physical and mental health. And then today I took an afternoon walk outsode for the first time in a long time.

I do leave the house for work and errands but for some reason leaving the house for a walk in the neighborhood was a real barrier. The anxiety is stupid but persistent. I don't think I'm ready to make it a daily thing yet but right now I am feeling proud of even getting back out there once.

Anyway. Just wanted to share that with someone.

You're doing so well! I still can't get myself to walk indoors most days, much less leave the house.

That’s really nice to hear, nonny. And I’m glad you feel proud about it because you absolutely should.

I ended up very isolated and hermit-like over the course of a few years, which led to a persistent anxiety and discomfort being in public (and I don’t even have capital-a Anxiety). It’s not easy to climb out of that state and you sound like you’re doing really good things for yourself.

Also, I think you’re inspiring me to actually get a walking pad this year so I can keep up better habits, especially in bad weather.

That's so nice to hear, I hope you can keep it up! I have a lot of trouble making myself leave the house when I'm in a depressive spell, but every time I manage it, I feel so much better afterwards. Sometimes just looking at things that aren't the inside of my apartment helps.
