(Anonymous) 2026-03-27 04:27 pm (UTC)(link)AH maybe I can enjoy Ilya as a character more than you it's simply because he's a man and not a woman. The fact that the gender is different from that of the people I had first hand experience with is possibly a huge buffer that allow my brain to distance the "reality of the character" from the "reality of my IRL experience".
Possibly why a loooot of queer women prefer exploring mlm ships than wlw ones. If it's too close to your life experience/identity it can become pretty upsetting pretty easily. IDK though, it's just food for thoughts /shrugs
Glad you found a place to express yourself without judgement! Hope you'll have fun in it :D
OH, and random question: what did you think of Scott Hunter/Kip? I thought it was maybe too tropey for me, but ultimately very sweet. I like Scott's character a lot, but I'm still unsure if I enjoyed the relationship, aha.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-27 06:48 pm (UTC)(link)Yeah that's likely part of it, he reminded me of the first few guys I, well calling it dating is way too much for what it was but like a lot of queer guys back then my first experiences with other men was hooking-up which more often than not doesn't end well. As you said, just a little too close to what I went through irl before I got old enough to spot the tells and before I met my current partner. But like you some people will jive with that and that's fine.
I really liked Kip/Scott, I thought they were cute and I think there's some level of I wish my secret hook-ups had been more like that than the reality lmao. It's still idealistic but didn't hit a 'oh I've been there' thing.
