Have you been asked to use AI on your job?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-29 12:09 am (UTC)(link)
By corporate or supervisors?

Do you use it?

Yep. I hate it. I never use it.

Yes, both for actual work and for "team building" exercises. I've told my boss that I will never use AI, and I don't want it used for me either (the team building was to answer a bunch of questions, have the answers fed into an ai image generator, and everyone guesses who is which picture - no thanks). Thankfully he has respected that. My junior in training also has a deep hated of AI, so we can reliably keep it out of our department at least.

No. But only because it is impossible.

Yep. By corporate. They encourage it and I just ignore them, lol.

Hmm... ish. They want us to at times but I avoid it where I can. And this is despite being cautioned about AI use. As in, "yes, use AI but also verify it" which IMO is kind of dumb because I could just save time NOT using AI if I have to make sure it's not lying to me.

OP follow-up question

(Anonymous) 2026-03-29 12:30 am (UTC)(link)
What would you do if it was made mandatory?

Asking because if you work for a corporation, that's likely in your near future.

Use it for bullshit stuff just to the know I am using it.

They can't make it mandatory for my job. I'm the only one who knows how to do it, so if I say no AI, then there's no AI.

May I ask what industry you work in and what position you hold?

Re: OP follow-up question

Insurance. I'm the only person who knows the very niche insurance we're contracted into (so they can't just say, "no we don't want to do this kind of insurance anymore" and fire me) with another company. Because it's niche, I basically run my own little insurance company inside the larger company and do everything an insurance company does except sales (billing, claims, customer support, risk assessment, etc).

Same. I'm the only one at my company that knows how to do logistics. xD

Do the absolute bare minimum, and if they decide to increase the amount and frequency that exceeds my tolerance levels, well... I might be seriously considering early retirement.

There is very little ways AI could be used for my job. The kinds of emails I send would not be faster if I got an AI to do it because they're fairly simple correspondence. At worst I'd just feed stuff into the chatbot if I got it and then pretend I jazzed it up from that.

Re: Have you been asked to use AI on your job?

(Anonymous) 2026-03-29 12:48 am (UTC)(link)
Nope.

We have an AI chatbot for our CS team that is, in theory, meant to be starting to use it to help with emails. But in reality it isn't working how the corporate overlords want and they're being given the data to show that it's not faster to use it, or even accurate at all. So atm it's only rolled out to a few people who are doing further tests.

(Anonymous) 2026-03-29 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
No. I work with babies. There is no option for AI. My job will never make me rich but at least there is job security from our new robot/AI overlords.

Unfortunately yes. My employer invested big in Microsoft Copilot and we're being pushed to use it to justify the expense. It's just not practical to use with most tasks I do. Once in a while I'll use it to search my emails if I remember, but I'm trying to do the bare minmum with it. :(
