Why online writing groups charge money. Why do you need to charge money for people to join your group? They're not publishing services or editing services, they're just groups.

It's to weed out the annoying people. Seriously. I've been in free writing groups, I've taken writing courses in college... there are always people who want a captive audience, but have nothing positive to share, people who get upset over constructive criticism, people who just waste everyone's time. A fee doesn't keep them all out, but it weeds out some.
