I'm tired of hearing about Chappell Roan.

Good, bad, or neutral, I'm just tired of seeing her in the news.

Her music is catchy af but I feel like we should just let her be for awhile.

Kind of agree. Don't really care for her one way or another but for some reason, she keeps popping up in recommended videos, even after I cleared my viewing history and turned it off.

I didn't care for her going bare-breasted to an awards show. No one needs to see her half-naked outside of a bedroom. If you have any talent, let it speak for itself.

If it makes anything better for you, those were fake boobs specifically molded as part of the dress. She was arguably more covered up than a lot of people there.

Why do fake boobs need to be part of a dress for an awards show?

(Anonymous) 2026-04-01 12:29 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm guessing it would hurt much less if someone accidentally stepped on the dress and ripped out the nipple rings.

Covering up completely and not wearing nipple rings beneath the dress solves that problem.

Seems that maybe you're not aware of the intended presentation of the dress.

Roan's outfit had the appearance of a dress being held up by nipple rings. She was deliberately going for this look, intending to shock.

Whether or not the public believes she should have covered up or done something different is irrelevant here. And I'm saying this as someone who found the look tacky as hell.

I feel this way about every celebrity. I don't care.

Kind of agree but, once a woman (not even celeb women but women in general) has boundaries that she expects people not to cross and enforces them and yet they do cross them, it's like heaven forbid a woman asks for space.

DA
Ugh yes, well said.

I think Midwest Princess is a phenomenal pop album, but yeah, I'm a little bit sick of hearing about her (at least for reasons other than her music). I don't really think it's her fault that I keep hearing abou her, though—and I say that as someone who actually does find her slightly abrasive at times. Even in cases where she said something that resulted in controversy, it's not her fault that the media took what she said and made a mountain out of a molehill because they knew it would get clicks.

Whether you think she's annoying or not, there are soo many people more deserving of the hatred people level at her over the dumbest shit, and I'm soo tired of hearing about it

(Anonymous) 2026-04-01 01:23 am (UTC)(link)
I suspect she would agree with you entirely.

There are some people that have interesting things to say, and some people who don't. There are some people who can say things entertainingly, and some people who can't.

Something to say, says it well - Terry Pratchet
Something to say, say it boringly - Me at Thanksgiving
Nothing to say, says it well - pop stars including CR
Nothing to say, says it boringly - Me at Thanksgiving after a glass of wine

Not to be all "shut up and sing" but, like, get the fuck off twitter and sing pls and thnks.

That's part of the smear campaign. Get people to grow tired of hearing about her so it's part of the negative energy surrounding her. Not to say I expect anyone to defend Chappelle Roan or to become interested in her. Just, it sucks that there have been concentrated smear campaigns against Chappelle and it works. I honestly feel she is targeted because she is a lesbian, and a celebrity who doesn't always get in line now that she's part of the "rich and famous" class.

(Anonymous) 2026-04-01 06:23 am (UTC)(link)
I guarantee a not-insignificant portion of the hate she gets comes from her being a woman the wrong way--boldly opinionated; hostile to her own objectification; lesbian. Even if some of her haters wouldn't describe it that way, subconsciously, we're all trained to see women like her as aberrant (or "annoying")—especially if they have the "privilege" of being famous and not adequately performing gratitude for it. Certainly no one gets on male celebrities for being insufficiently grateful for public intrusions into their personal lives.
