Weekend Plans?

[personal profile] kaijinscendre 2026-04-03 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
What is everyone doing this weekend?

It is going to be cooler here this weekend so I'm hoping I can go on a longer walk that usual. Not really doing anything unusual. Though, Sunday we will have some family over to eat spaghetti for Easter (we don't do much).

Probably finishing up the last leg of my IT fundamentals course so I can get to the next ones and take less time to get to certification level. Working toward getting certification for IT computer jobs so I can land a remote job like my brother has.

I finished a good chunk of the first course in like... a few days since starting the coursera course. It would be so cool if I could get a whole course in by the time the free week trial is up. I've been so excited about this since I started . I really think I could go far in this career if I learn it well. After months of unemployment in retail jobs this is a ray of hope.

I hope you are able to find a job swiftly!

Thanks. Me too
A remote job would be ideal because i medically can't drive. so yeah. Also I feel remote work would be less stressful than retail jobs for me.

Spending whole shifts in the public masking and all that... it wears me out soooo much haha

It’s a 4 day weekend here so I’m going to be playing a lot of WoW or ff14, me and the gf went out shopping today and then we got some snacks in a dessert shop. So just a chill, relaxing time.

What are you doing on WoW? Leveling more, gearing up, finishing achievements?

Levelling in an alt, I’m still working on getting my pally to max, and I’d also got a few wings of raid finder to do if I feel like it.

I was invited to my cousin's house for Easter but am opting to stay home as there will be too many people there so it'll be too noisy, and since one of her bathrooms is out of order there will be only tiny half-bathroom for everyone to use. :/ I also can't get this guy from my past who I once had a chance with (and didn't take) out of my brain.

Yeah, that is a good reason to stay home! I hope you have a relaxing weekend.

Hoping to move some daffodils and tulips now that they are done blooming. I want to have them concentrated in one area where right now they are kind of randomly popping up in different gardens.

I...did not know it was Easter this weekend. I don't celebrate but I'm not usually that much out of the loop. This one snuck up on me!

Yeah, Easter is super early this year. I hope you get them all moved. Did you plant them or someone else? We get some daffodils every year but someone else planted them.

I got quilt designing software so I’ll be playing with that all weekend. I’m still facing months of recovery for my ankle and discovered that I can’t sit at my sewing machine to do real quilting. So I’ll just do it virtually for now and maybe in a couple weeks we can move my sewing machine to the dining room so I can arrange myself comfortably and use the knee pedal to sew quilt blocks. I’m learning that I enjoy piecing blocks more than joining completed blocks and am only kinda half kidding when I say I wonder if I could get my husband to sew the blocks together…

I hope you are able to create some good patterns! Do you use accuquilt or something similar?

Re: Weekend Plans?

(Anonymous) 2026-04-04 02:02 am (UTC)(link)
I have an Accuquilt cutter because I was hopeless when trying to cut things to the same size. I have since learned all the tricks for traditional cutting and could have saved myself the money but honestly I love how fast and easy it is to just run the fabric through a machine and end up with all the pieces I need. Sewing them together is definitely my favorite part of quilting!

I got Electric Quilt 8 for designing blocks and quilts. They have a few quilt patterns in the software and like 250ish blocks I think. They also sell collections of additional block designs (and quilts too I think) but I haven’t looked at getting any extras.

My Accuquilt came in a bundle with one of their Qube sets that has all the basic shapes most commonly used. They give you a block pattern book with it that has 72 blocks you can make just with what’s in that set. They have expansion sets too but I don’t have them. I do have several other dies though and I made a document with all the shapes and what measurements I have across all the Accuquilt products. When playing with the software on my computer, I have the document open on my iPad so it’s super easy to see what I have and what size I can make.

Tomorrow I want to experiment with recreating the Nine Patch quilt that Beth Dutton had in Yellowstone. It’s a popular project in quilting circles and no one can agree what size the blocks are on the quilt in the show. I figure it will be fun drafting it at various sizes and seeing if I can figure out the size of the original.

Just came back from a DEVO concert (very enjoyable!) and will probably just be chill.

Yard work and knitting. I’m trying to get ahead of the weeds, get some new plants in the ground, and finish a sweater. I doubt I’ll have an opportunity to wear said sweater this spring, but it will be a nice surprise for future me.
