OP is right and right to say it. The problem is that AO3 treats true crossovers and multi-chapter/multi-fandom compilations as the same.

I wonder if AO3 could change the Fandom entry field to require authors to enter a mandatory Primary fandom for a work, which would then open to allow entry of additional fandoms as required. It might help convince authors of compilations to use Collections or Series instead of multi-chapter fics of unrelated fandoms.

Is that what OP means? I completely agree with them if that's the case, because yeah, I get irritated with those.

And yes. I really really hate multifandom collections and hate how impossible to specifically filter these people out.

The good news is that thanks to the new blocking on AO3, I can just block these people and assume the rest of what they write is trash anyways <3

At this point, I think using a "Crossover" additional tag may work too. Probably easier to setup for authors writing true crossovers.
