The Roddenberry Box was a good thing, actually, because it challenged writers to be able to work out their story in the first place. A lot of Trek storylines today just seem unfinished even as they filmed.

I still consider George in the Famous Five to be an inexpertly-written transman, living in an era where being trans was even less well understood than even today. The way recent adaptations have gone out of their way to try and erase that aspect of his character is pretty disgusting, although far from unexpected give exactly which particular influential and rich Terf has been outspoken on admiring the character whilst completely failing to interrogate their own gender issues.

Part of me is overjoyed that Animal Crossing: New Horizons got a big update recently. It has some maaaaaajor quality-of-life updates, especially with regard to crafting. It's MUCH less annoying to craft things now.

However, another part of me wishes that instead of creating a big update for ACNH, they had instead moved on to work on the next installment of the game. As much as I love ACNH and still play it frequently to this day, I am kind of ready for the next one. Plus, my island is pretty well established (I would NEVER delete it and restart!!!) so the crafting improvements don't benefit me as much, at this point.

But you know what, it is what it is, and I'll just enjoy my comfort game being a little more fun/having a little less annoyance, and let the next game come when it's time. :)

You know how smells sometimes almost get "stuck" in your nose, like you keep smelling them even when the thing that caused them is no longer present? Usually this tends to happen if you smell something gross, and then keep smelling it. Well, yesterday it happened to me for the first time that a smell got "stuck" but it wasn't something nasty. At work someone used scented trash bags, and some of them were vanilla. It's not exactly a nice vanilla, it's more synthetic chemical vanilla, but it's not terribly unpleasant. Well, when I got home last night, my lip balm which is NOT vanilla, smelled like those trash bags. It was so weird. I could even smell it still after I had applied it, when I got in bed. It was just the strangest thing, to smell this lip balm that always had a faintly lemon scent, and smell the chemical vanilla.

Never had that happen to me before. I didn't know that was a thing. The thing I wonder if it happens for others too is that I randomly hear music sometimes in silence. When there are no other sounds, sometimes my ear thinks it is hearing very quiet music. Especially if I have in ear plugs.
