I had a Jerusalem cross necklace that I don't wear anymore because extreme racists have coopted that style of cross.

I had a Saint Peter's cross necklace that I hardly ever wear it. I only had one person recognizing the meaning behind that cross.

Maybe because there's more than one common meaning?

I mean, it does mean "you're not worthy to die like Jesus did" or "I'm against the Christian church", but I sorta roll my eyes when people claim is a "satanic cross".

I have mixed feelings about this, as a heathen rather than as a Christian. There's a lot of discussion in inclusive heathenry about mjolnir pendants, the valknut, and the Othala rune, because racists have adopted these symbols. Do we let them go so as not to be associated with racists, or do we hold onto them in order to push back against racist appropriation? It's a personal choice that each person has to make, but I do worry about how much ground we all tend to cede to the people we stand against. How can we defeat them if we so easily let them take what's ours?

Anyway, it's tough, and mostly I wish assholes simply didn't exist.

The key to wearing a mjolnir et al, imo, is to wear a pin or patch or other item that demonstrates you're not the kind of person adhering to that stereotype.

I wear a small mjolnir and I'm happy to talk about my gods if someone asks, lol.
