(Anonymous) 2026-04-25 01:00 pm (UTC)(link)Never heard his music and only found out about him due to the public interest in the discovery of her body.
I've been quietly following the story, engaging just enough to know because I don't like getting deep into ongoing murder cases. A big concern was leaks in the case that causes a media shit storm. Narratives building up and getting caught up in all people involved.
It started off seeming to be going that way. Online creators pulling up old live streams, songs, pictures...seeming to be playing detective. Too many people wanting to make videos just to get clicks that reminded me of the media shitstorm around the Heard v Depp case.
But yeah, agreed that the months following the discovery of the body, the LAPD didn't add gasoline to the fire, and were competent with handling the case publicly.
I'm grateful the majority of the public discourse has been "she was a child, we have to make sure no one runs off with baseless allegations, we're going to let the facts of the case speak for itself and not create some kind of mystic aura around the person of interest/suspect."

(Anonymous) 2026-04-25 01:38 pm (UTC)(link)I agree with you. I actually think the police department handled it well, for a change. 7 months does seem like a long time, but if they had arrested him sooner and then he wasn't convicted due to fast, sloppy handling of the case, people would (rightfully) be screaming about that. Taking their time is 100% the way to go. I think sometimes people get used to TV shows and other fiction where stuff is wrapped up quickly but in the real world it usually doesn't work that way. This stuff takes time and it's better that they take all the time they need and seal up any potential cracks that the perpetrator could slither through.
