I hate it when a book gets adapted into a movie or TV show, and all the cover art gets replaced by publicity stills from the movie. Especially when the show makes radical changes to the characters so the covers are no longer even vaguely related to the book characters anymore.

When I was into Twilight circa Breaking Dawn, I absolutely hated the movie adaptation covers. I was so glad I had the pre-movie covers for my books.

Hard same. Usually already have a copy though. But the movie-covers of books still irritate me.

And even if they don't change the artwork, it's mostly covered by a "Now A Hit Movie!!!" sticker. Haha, actually no, it's printed and you can't remove it.

I could not agree more! It's one of the few things I hate about my Kindle; it'll update the covers of stuff without asking me. I really hate it a lot, I never ever want a movie or TV show tie-in cover. Like you said, it's much worse if it's a cover that doesn't accurately reflect the text. But even if the characters look "right" I still don't like it.

I wouldn't mind having a cheap paperback copy of my favorite book with the tv show cover for annotation and/or lending purposes but I'm not buying said copy when I have... uh, two nice copies? Or, one REALLY nice copy and one copy that was nice but is kind of ruined.

lmaooo I have a (quite good) scholarly biography of Mary Queen of Scots that for some reason has a photo of the actresses from that movie that came out a few years ago on its cover. The movie was hilariously inaccurate, so if the idea was that the screenwriters referenced this biography they sure didn't take into account what it said

Same. Even if I liked the movie, I prefer "real" cover art, not a shot from the movie. It just seems so low effort and not very pretty.

I hate that too for the most superficial of reasons: if I have to buy the post-movie/TV show adaptation of a book, I don't want people to think that I've only read it due to the movie/TV show!

I love the EU. But Mara Jade would not work in canon. She was a cool character for one version of Star Wars. But all the talk of how she could save Star Wars is just ludicrous. She doesn't fit in canon, even if we ignore the sequels. The EU shifted Jedi lore in a lot of ways that never happened in canon. People need to get over it.

Kohske the Mangaka announced the continuation of Gangsta. on her Twitter recently and I am so damn happy and excited about it!

I am just scared that there will be no Scanlation team picking it back up again :(

It was such a good story and went on hiatus when tension was high and shit got really scary in the plot. I don't mind that Kohske is gonna change the art style a bit to make it easier on her. Hell, even her scribbles look sick as hell!

Just please, someone, translate it!

Sorry, Invincible Fans, I am still underwhelmed by Thragg (and his emotional support skull), he's not a great bad guy. He's just Conquest 2.0. A strong thug. He didn't out-think or out-manoeuvre our heroes. He just out-punched them. That isn't impressive.

If someone has a pattern of digging up receipts on people's old stuff, like a variety of popular creators, performers etc, not just one or two they may have had personal interaction with, but like when it's just a thing they do for a hobby or.. just habitual... I feel like they seem untrustworthy and possibly even toxic.

IDK but that kind of person who just makes it their business to look into everyone else's to find dirt. They just seem like someone i wouldn't trust in person or in a relationship of any kind.

(PS: I'm not saying that looking into people's pasts is always bad but just.. the kind of person who makes it their hobby to look for wrongs in people's pasts when they're famous/known, they just seem like someone with a very 1-to 100 'if you're Problematic once , you shouldn't be forgiven" type mindset.)

Something I loved in old Hong Kong action movies is that the American cops were arrogant idiots.

One of my favorites is Paul Rudd as the asshole FBI agent who is always 5 steps behind in "Gen Y Cops" XD
