Yeah, but they don't work.

Humans are a "hands on" type of ape, we need the physical experiential type of learning experiences if we are truly going to understand something properly.

OK, sure. *insert eyeroll*

What? Why are you talking about apes learning hands on when the subject is a tv show? The audience doesn't need to see a man wrestling with a crocodile to properly learn about crocodiles.

And sometimes that "hands-on" learning experience results in catastrophic injury or death.

LOL, nah. This might be true of say, learning carpentry. But you can learn plenty about crocodiles without wrestling them. People manage to do this all the time.

The only times he "wrestled" with crocodiles was to capture and/or move them. Everything he did was to make the move as safe and stress free as possible. He didn't just wrestle crocodiles for the hell of it. The Irwins have done far more good for wildlife and environmental conservation than the keyboard bitchers.

I do remember the "wrestling" was mostly for move them to another zoo part or a vet check because crocodiles were delicate with anesthesia, so immobilize them is still a safer option.
And if he was in a crocodile zone and it reacted to him, he moved and respected its zone like "that was my fault" rather than "stupid crocodile".

That's how I remember it, too.

The hate in this thread is OTT.
