Yeah, I'm Australian, and the US worship of him is just weird. He wasn't hated, except for his conservative political stance and sucking up to then-PM John Howard, but he was considered a bit of an idiot for the way he behaved around animals. Especially carrying his baby son into the crocodile pens.

I'm Aussie, and I always found him so obnoxious and loud, so I never really watched him. I do think his heart was in the right place, but man, I couldn't stand him. XD
