Do I think he genuinely loved animals and was passionate about conservation? Yes.

Do I think he made a lot of decisions that favored showmanship over proper engagement with the sorts of animals he worked with? Yes.


I agree with the other commenters that Attenborough is a better example making conservation entertaining to the masses, and frankly I find the calm persona he uses (and his humor) to be much more enjoyable than Irwin's antics ever were.
