God, me too.

The freedom of being able to play in that sandbox, knowing it would never be touched by canon, knowing it was all yours.

I've seen so many great shows and ships be dismissed out hand, people not even bothering to watch them at all because "it's not canon, so what's the point?". Kids, that is the damn point!

Right? It's so weird how different peoples' mindsets are. It's not like nobody got upset about what happened in canon back then, but people were more resigned because what can you do? Time to fire up the keyboard and the ending the story deserved, then.
