Yeah I just do not get the canon or bust mentality.

I've got plenty of ships across the board that are fanon and I have never once shipped them under the requirement that they become canon or it wasn't worth it? It's this bizarre need for certain fans to be right and to 'win' some kind of imaginary fight with other fans imo and all it does is breed a very nasty, very entitled subset of fans who are awful to deal with.

They also seem to just be... really bad at reading narrative text? Because half the time all the 'hints' and 'signs' they talk about are either the most random non-hints ever that don't mean anything, or in the case of actual canon: shit that the story is hitting you over the head like a sledgehammer.

It's wild.
