Storm Season

Are you in an area that gets a lot of bad storms? We had terrible storms yesterday for 6 hours straight with a tornado warning, hail, and crazy lightning. Power was off for two hours, on for a couple, then off 4 hours at around 2am. I only slept about 3 hours all night because of the stress. At least all my plants got drenched and are happy.

No, and I miss it, sleepless nights and all. I grew up in tornado alley, and now I live in a valley and if we had any less weather there'd be no oxygen.

I wouldn't mind them if I had a backup generator. But I hate the idea of losing everything in my fridge. :(

Yeah, that was always a concern. We never had a generator, so we'd just prioritize perishables. We had some very weird breakfasts. Funnily enough, now that I live in a place with no weather and all the power cables are underground, I have a solar generator.

It depends, but it has been extra bad the past few weeks. A lot of strong storms, quite a few tornado warnings. This week we're having either rain or full on thunder storms every day except wednesday. Be interesting for the world cup, which is here this week.

Yeah, KC had some bad storms and I think they are hosting some World Cup stuff.

I grew up in a place where storms were fun things you watched from your window at night. The clouds and thunder and lighting and sheets of rain were beautiful but rarely dangerous. Then as an adult I moved to a big tornado area and now I find storms terrifying. Even if they don't produce tornadoes they are often dangerous with straight winds or just strong winds that take down trees all the time. I've gotten better about being more chill about them the longer I've lived here, but they still make me nervous.

Yeah, we had straight winds yesterday and they knocked down a whole street of poles. That one is going to take at least a week to get fixed. :(

Unfortunately yeah, it's storm season. I don't mind it so much for myself, but my dog is terrified and it's hard to get anything done when it's raining hard or thundering because she wants to be an 80lb lapdog. Like of course I'll cuddle you, but OMG I HAVE TO PEE.

I also worry about the trees around the house falling over and hitting us. :(

Oh yeah. I'm worried about my neighbor's trees. A few years ago, one knocked out our power for like 2 days!

Not any longer. I grew up on the prairie, but now I live in the mountains. I don’t miss the storms, the days-long loss of power, the tornadoes, the hail, the downpours that would cause entire hillsides to slough.
