DeviantART shouild have a good amount of fanart. Given their policies, Arbiter porn is (thankfully) inexistent. There's the occassional slash fanart, but it is tame stuff.

...I really need to go back to drawing. Arbiter armor should be easier to draw than MJOLNIR armor. I hope.

I got into the Dresden Dolls in 2003 and I am a major, major fan of theirs. I really do love her music, both with the Dolls and solo.

I always thought the point of the outfits -- whiteface, the striped tights, the bowler hat, etc. -- was to sort of pick a shtick that made a statement but didn't obscure the music. I could be wrong.

By somewhere around late 2005/early 2006 it seemed to me that the sideshow had begun to obscure the music. Like, to the point where I would go to a show, and the Dresden Dolls would only play after an hour and a half of burlesque dancers and circus performers and Amanda would make speeches about art and about the message and so on.

So yeah, I get what's going on. Her background is in street performance. And my god, I love her music, but to actually hear her music at this point, you have to wade through three feet of overly indulgent artistic bullcrap. And I still adore the music, so I'll do it. But it annoys me.

This isn't me not understanding the 'art.' I get it. I just wish the art didn't get in the way of the music.

(And, well, some of her 'art' just isn't that original. And slowly it's becoming less subtle.)
