I actually get kinda what you mean, anon. The dating-sim style slinks really do boil relationships down to 'tell her what she wants to hear so she'll like you'... but honestly, can you think of a better 'relationship level up' mechanic? I think real relationships are just too damn complicated to slam into a videogame without it coming out slightly wonked. I wouldn't think about it all so deeply.
