I hope you agree this goes for the het shippers too, OP. We've both got our share of close-minded crazies, and I agree it's unfair to generalize everyone.

I am well aware that shipping slash doesn't mean that you ship every single slash pairing out there. I don't even mind most fans that ship predominately slash pairings (I have people on my f-list who rarely ship het). However, just as there are a handful of shippers for several pairings that give shippers for that pairing a bad name (like the House/Cuddy shippers mentioned a few secrets down), there are a lot of slash fans who give other slash fans a bad name.

I cannot even tell you the number of times I have come across people who basically ship hot guys together no matter what. And to do so, they often bash the female characters. I admit, I'm partial to female characters, so I'm sensitive to it. Yet, I just finished reading an entire post devoted to hate of a female character in one of my fandoms because she gets in teh way of teh epic boy!love makes the guys act differently than the poster wants them to act. I'm sorry, but when more than three times the number of people say they dislike the female main character than who say they dislike any of the other main characters, I see it as a problem. None of the characters are truly fully fleshed-out, so her lack of a defined character shouldn't be as big of an issue as it is. At least, IMHO, and of course YMMV.

I am guessing that most of the people who post rants about slashers are tired of hearing their favorite (female) characters bashed constantly and how shpping a particular het ship for a fandom is wrong/something to be ashamed about. I, personally, am of the live and let live variety. If you let me ship whom I want and don't bash my favorite characters (criticism is fine; there is a difference), then I'm totally fine with you liking whom you like.
