SAME. It's hard to find mainstream media that includes it, so I ain't gonna complain if a fic writer has the brains to include it. Besides, they may just be the writer that comes up with an original story that hits mainstream and, HALLELUJAH, has the characters use a condom! Seriously, most kids either A, don't frackin' pay attention in health class or B, never get any sex ed apart from "DON'T HAVE SEX OR YOU WILL GET PREGNANT AND DIE". I'm going to take safe sex references where I can get 'em!

I always make a point of discussing contraception in my fanfic, making sure it fits into the situation and dialog. If you don't include it, I assume you 1. are planning on dealing with the unsafe sex later on 2. just don't care that its something that is discussed in RL and should be reflected in fandom, even if it isn't.

Me too. I practically cheer when I read a fic and safe sex is mentioned, if only in passing. I want there to be more of it, not less.
