I stopped checking the comm the moment the only thing I could read was "I LYK DIS RP BUT U MAED IT SUK ROACHDICK SO I HAET IT NAO." Which means I probably haven't clicked a single link in two months.
Yeah, I'm kinda worried that if this separate RP secret comm thing goes through, everyone's just gonna find something else to be all "OMG NO MORE ___ SECRETS" to be annoyed at...
Damn, you're right. There goes my moment of genius. And yes, I think so too. Those mod tags are fun as hell, though. D: AND HAY, maybe then we'd finally make it to Fandom Wank. Not that I've been wondering why we haven't already/hoping we would. I'm a terrible person. XD;
But this exact thing did happen with FFR -- a lot of people started ranting about Kingdom Hearts after KH2 was released. The members bitched, so someone went and formed khfanficrants, which is a horrible offshoot, and a terrible comm to boot. And you know, people still ranted about KH at FFR, because the offshoot comm was so awful, and members still bitched, but really, it's an open comm, what do you do? Go tell the mods someone's ranting about something you don't like?
I think the same concept applies here. We could make an offshoot comm, but would it really help the problem any?
IT REALLY WOULDN'T HELP. I mean, HELL. If we had an RP secret comm, it'd be like some unholy lovechild of bad_rpers_suck and ths community, but since both those communities already exist, it'd just die out and people would migrate back. That and people who enjoy the regular fandom stuff and the RP stuff would go and join both communities and arrrggh spam. No. Much better the way things are.
It's not so much the secret in itself as it is everyone saying the exact same thing with a different fandom. I would feel the exact same way if people did the same thing but with a different topic.
When things start to form a trend, it becomes unfun. I visit the comm to find my lulz and maybe realize that I share something with someone else. The joke's run its course and that's that.
Singling just the RP "trends" seems sort of foolish when all the other ones will continue to exist and likely multiply. As stated above, creating more communities for RP secrets could lead to creating more for other groups, and that seems pretty ridiculous when fandomsecrets is already an offshoot. RP is as much a part of fandom as cosplay, fanfiction, fan art, and so on. People will always have something to say about one of the above that will echo a sentiment shared by many, so really what you seem to be after is getting rid of trend secrets rather than RP secrets, which is... well, impossible.
We have different reasons to visit the community. I'm just here for the laughs and because I get what people're talking about so the joke isn't lost on me. I'm not singling out RP secrets, I'm only answering because that was what the question asked and I find RP secrets unfunny to begin with, even more so when it's rehashed over and over again. In fact, if in a few months, another poll were to be brought up asking if a separate comm should be made for shipping secrets because that's all people've been submitting, then I'd answer the same way I just did. Unless all the shipping secrets have been nothing but a roller coaster of shits and giggles, then I'd say no because they made my visit to the comm worthwhile.
This isn't about fandom for me because I have no reason to take it seriously. I don't understand how anyone could.
Sooooo, basically, you'd vote off anything that doesn't entertain you? Fascinating. I was unaware that secrets were created for the sole purpose of amusing the people who browsed the community rather than, you know, telling a secret. I can't say much regarding the frequency of RP secrets, considering the fact that I thought the number was actually going down (I actually skim past them most of the time), but if it's just that they stand out to you as "unfunny," redundant, and therefore lacking in any form of merit, then it doesn't seem like we're going to come to some kind of agreement, does it? It all boils down to a matter of personal preference, and in this case, we seem to have very different ones. I happen to enjoy the variety, even if some of the secrets shown are not to my taste, but if you'd rather remove them entirely... again, I don't think we'll agree.
I'm not asking you to agree because I'm answering for the sake of answering. Why does my answer have to be for the greater good of every other member here or have to lead to greater internet stability? If other people want to have conversations on how a part of fandom has become integral to their lives and share this same phenomenon with other people, then that's their thing. Mine is just to laugh at how inane the secrets are because I share the reason. But to discuss it at length? Whatever.
I got into one argument once on the comm because a secret instigated my inner fanboy, realized that I was being a tard for it and just went back to why I came in the first place and I became infinitely happier. This entire conversation we're having kinda annoys me because, seriously, whatever happens to the comm is something I could care less about. What you think about the comm is something I could care less about. I wouldn't be surprised if my opinion, yours or anyone else's would be anything to care about. Serious Business and all that.
Interesting. I could ask why exactly you'd even bother to comment or fill out the poll if this means so very little to you, but I'll respect your apparent wish to be left alone and end this discussion. Have a nice life.
I can just as easily ignore them. In fact, as I've said, that's all I've been doing for a considerably large amount of time, and doing it so well that I have never caused drama because I couldn't be bothered to care. But when given the express opportunity to talk about it because the questions was officially raised, I see no reason not for me to put in my two cents.
If the RP secrets continue or not really doesn't matter to me in the long run because If the novelty of the comm is lost on me for good, then it's lost on me for good. I'm just trying to bring it back before that actually happens.

Except it wouldn't really be awesome, but you know what I mean.

And yes, I know what you mean. XD It'd suck if it did happen, but if the people voting "Yes" win... bleargh. :/

I'm in it for me, nothing and no one else.
