Cats Don't Dance! I thought I was the only one who watched that movie as a kid. Admittedly, I still adore it. I remember it blew my mind, looking back, that Scott Bakula had such a lovely singing voice.

I wouldn't say the film was an utter disgrace, but it was underwhelming and the music was particularly disappointing. I lost some of my faith in humanity by watching people cream themselves over the old school animation as if normal quality criteria didn't apply.

Yeah, movie was mediocre at best and the songs sounded alike. Except for the villain song, which was kick-ass.

I dunno, I often feel like I really should like it because we finally have the long anticipated black princess, but I don't get the craze either.

The animation wasn't even "traditional" to begin with. For me "traditional" is "no digitally painted backgrounds, no stupid CGI effects".

Meh. I think it deserves to be up there with the rest of the 'Disney Princess' movies, though not saying it's the best of them at all. Music was weak (apart from evil Doctor's song and 'Almost There') and the writing didn't exactly have the impact of say Beauty & The Beast or Aladdin.

The animation was pretty in parts though. But the main thing that really saves this film for me are the characters. Tiana pwns over most of her predecessors (except Belle who's my favorite) and Naveen is one of the few 3 dimensional princes Disney has given us. Facillier is awesome and Lottie...was Lottie. :P Sidekicks could've been better though IMO (sorry Ray fans!).

I'd say, for me, it's on par with Little Mermaid which was always my least favorite of the genre. Though that had muuch better music.

I was pretty disappointed when I heard Randy Newman was going to be doing the music myself, but he did alright. I still get Almost There stuck in my head pretty frequently. Did like the movie, though - and geez, anywhere? What if it's an unranked list of like fifty movies? But my compliments on your I JUDGE YOU workaround.

I think it worked fine as an addition to the Disney Princess movies, although it was most definitely not my favorite. It was cute, and it looked nice. I'd advise just ignoring the inevitable hype it came with so you can avoid a nasty headache.*

*This is my own experience with Disney-crazed friends speaking, so take it with a grain of salt.

Edit to mention that Big and Loud's second part (?) is absolutely hilarious. I don't remember Cats Don't Dance outside of that song, but it was my favorite part as a kid.

PatF has become one of my favorite Disney Animated Films, no doubt. It's up there in my favorites list with Hunchback, Beauty and the Beast, and Lilo and Stitch. It's not a perfect film by any means, but there's very little about it that I dislike.
