It wasn't MEANT to be a horror game tbh, definitely not in the way that Fatal Frame and Silent Hill are horror games. It was a horror game in the same way that, like, The Evil Dead is a horror movie. It had a midget villain and the line "Your right hand comes off?" for god's sake. It was just a fun campy fake-horror shooter.

it made me feel things at a time in my life when i didn't feel anything else.

i guess that feeling wasn't horror, though, so that probably doesn't say much about it in that regard.

lol RE4 is one of the best games i have ever played IMO, and i have played many of them. It was more of a third person shooter than an horror game actually, it wasn't ashamed of puting you in very cool situations with lot of action.

I am pretty sure that the only reason anyone liked it and/or played it was to watch Leon get hurt and/or tortured.

I mean seriously. I've even seen jokes about it in various published manga before.

Yeah, I didn't consider it this groundbreaking experience, and seriously hate the straight up action-horror/shooter trend it began in the series. I wouldn't even call it a survival horror franchise anymore, and that sucks.

RE4 revitalized the once stagnant Resident Evil series. I really don't see how anyone can dislike this game. It really has a nice pace of action, horror and just amazing scare factors in it.

i played and loved re4 AND 5, but no, it wasn't scary at all.
meanwhile, i WATCHED someone ELSE play through silent hill 2 and 4 and i was freaked.

You know what I want to see? A new Resident Evil set in the old style (zombies/Racoon City/Umbrella/etc) but with the new controls.

I love the upgrade in controls that the series was given. But I hate that we've been given crap like Las Plagas, Magini, superpowered Jill, Uroboros, etc.
I want zombies and creepy mutations again! D;

This is the first Resident Evil game I ever played so I'm not sure if my opinion counts, but I AGREE. It was mildly entertaining in a B-movie kind of way, but I thought the plot was uninspired at best, and the dialogue and voice acting was awful. Okay, the dialogue was bad to the point of hilarity, so I actually had a pretty good time playing the game. But it certainly wasn't very scary, and I'd avoided the franchise all this time because I thought it would be too scary for me!

That's fine, I like playing mediocre games too, but then I come online and find out this game has rave reviews and all the things I criticized were seen as better than ever in this installment. WTF? Maybe we just don't get it, anon.
