Not really. It's romantic situations involving two people of the same sex. Most romantic situations on TV or in the movies shy away from it, in slash fiction you get to read a romance/action/horror story etc, but with a gay romance instead of a straight one.

Nothing wrong with a guy coming home to his husband.

Really, I don't see why people (and note: this little rant is not directed at you, Caedoodle) don't understand that there are all different kinds of relationships with tons of different dynamics involving people of all genders. It doesn't matter what the situation is -- whether it's a het couple, or slash, or femslash, or something else -- people are all individuals who act in different ways. They're not always going to fall into the same social normals that people have come to expect. It's part of what bothers me so much about slash fangirls -- the fact that so many of them squee over "seme" and "uke" like that's all there is to a relationship -- and, building on that, that their sexual preferences will always carry over into real life.

But I mean, beyond that, this secret pisses me off because -- like someone said above -- it insinuates that all women are going to be passive in their relationships and wait at home. News flash: there are plenty of house-husbands! And there are plenty of couples who both have jobs and careers that take them outside of the home. And . . . And, well, there are a billion other personalities!

All OP had to say was, "I prefer slash over het." That's fine, and wouldn't even be a secret. But to drag it out this far just . . . irritates me, is all. People don't just slot into perfectly portioned holes all of the time, and it irritates me how so much of fandom just automatically assumes that they do. [/rant]

Wow, umm... I'll agree that it's stupid to assume that because A person sleeps with B person they want C option and that's it. But... wow. "Stupidly heteronormative" might not be the most constructive way to phrase that.

I mean, I'm all for the excitement/danger/whatever part of a love story too! Good times to be had (in any sort of pairing, het, slash, femme-slash... whatever!). But fluff is fun too. I mean, obviously not to the OP, but oh well.

Smells like a giant case of "OMG GUYS STOP LIKING STUFF I DON'T GUYS!" to me.

But what do I know. I'm just a meek wife. I should go back to making dinner in my boring life and wait for my husband to get home and be boring too. ;)
