Is it not possible to have a free-for-all meme, where you can go crazy as anon but still have threads for friending and such?

The thing is if we did that, the friending thread would lag everything FOREVER because it would be so long, and comment expanding stops after a certain number of responses so everyone would have to expand/click by hand

firefox has an add-on that lets you expand all comments at once, either one page of them or all.

oh, right. i tend to forget that there are other browsers. (even though i use three. it's just that firefox is for lj.)

still, the first comment is not hidden, and if anybody wanted to continue reading, they'd just open the thread in a new tab.

Nah, even if you open the thread in a new tab, there's a limit to how many comments open. The rest get collapsed after a certain number. So if everyone were replying with friendmeme details to the same comment, only about 25 or so would show, then the rest get collapsed and need to be opened individually.
