Dude, right? I would have loved to see The Patakis go through!
I was never a fan of the Rugrats one just because the charm of the show came from them actually being BABIES, but I think Hey Arnold had enough depth to make it pull through, even if it got a little too serious for mainstream cartoons.

I am so with you on this. I mean, I love Rugrats, but I loved Hey Arnold more. I think because I could relate to Helga so much, me being the ugly duckling who liked a boy who'd never like her (though, he wasn't as nice as Arnold.)

But uh. Not the point.

"Too dark", yeah right. You know how much I cried while re-watching all those episodes dealing with Arnold's parents? (no joke, this was about six weeks ago) THAT WAS SOME SERIOUS STUFF. You could have totally made "The Pataki's" work. And had a hit.

(no, I'm not still bitter that they canceled the show before they could make the movie where they found Arnold's parents in the jungle and Helga/Arnold would have become official [/denial])

I loved Rugrats, but I didn't feel like they really had material for an aged-up spin-off. I think Hey Arnold would have had a lot more possibility.

I'd never heard of the proposed Patakis show. Now I really wish they'd made that. :(
