Coming from someone who hasn't read the books, I don't disagree with what you're saying, but at the same time, it sounds like this is a very, very narrow story. It's this girl, choosing between two boys. Yes, there's a whole wide dystopian world out there, but that's not the story that this author wanted to tell (again, based on what I've heard. I could be very wrong). It's like complaining that there are no gay vampires in Twilight. That's not the story that struck her. Now, for whatever religious reasons that is (both authors are Mormon, so there's that), you still have to tell the story that inspires you.

And Lee Pace was FANTASTIC in it. I think that was his first movie, too? I was really impressed with the way he played a woman with naturally feminine mannerisms without once going over the top or descending into cliche. I've never seen any cisgendered male actor play a trans- or cisgendered woman so naturally and believably.

I'd have to disagree with you there. I thought Devdas was gorgeous and the storyline (while pretty sad) was interesting. KHNH just bored me--I watched it for the actors, but I really enjoyed Devdas when I'd hardly seen any bollywood. Each to his own, I guess.

What I love is that she started off Standard Anime Girl and then actually got a little bit heftier - mostly up top, but really all through her body. And it was brought up in story by everyone but her as a good thing.

Also, fuck yeah, OP! Nana's the sexiest.

I have seen it, and ITA, he was unbelievably great in it. Actually, though, when asked about that movie he said "There were times I'd look in the mirror and wonder 'what am I doing to my life here? My dad is going to kill me!' But the reason I went into acting was to be able to play parts as complicated and important as this one" which kinda, sorta, maybe makes me think he's not gay--not that transgendered is exactly the same as gay or whatever, but for some reason I just kinda think he wouldn't say something like that if he is and is choosing to stay private about it. I'm always torn with things like this: I want these famous people to come out and be like "yep, I'm gay, DEAL WITH IT" and be able to talk about their lives freely, but on the other hand I hate the way people think they have a right to celebs' personal lives and I think they should totally stay private if they choose to. :\ IDK. I

I liked his design a lot at first, but then his AMAZINGLY apparent shut-in craziness really put me off. It'd feel like crushing on some kind of mentally broken feral child. no thanks.
He gets less annoying towards the end though, when he starts making sense and acting more like a human, haha.

OP made the mistake of choosing a picture from the first chapter, where she's noticeably thinner. She actually puts on a bit of weight both in art and in story with later chapters, like the one the cover's from.

Personally, I love Bollywood (I'm even taking a class on it now) and I really don't like most musicals. They're really different genres. I've heard that it can be said all Bollywood films are musicals, and none of them are musicals, because there is usually at least some singing and dancing regardless of the actual genre.

Also, I loved Devdas and Jodhaa-Akbar, liked Om Shanti Om and Lagaan, and absolutely hated DDLJ. (Just my feedback because I felt like it, but I'm kinda stupidly proud I've seen 5 out of 8).

The boots are actually just shoes with boot covers. I know the Mercury, and she's pointed me towards the boot cover tutorial she uses. They're all wearing proper dance shoes because they're a Myu group that does actual song and dance numbers. I agree they should all do the boot covers, though.

That said, the Mercury, though she's no longer in the group, is one of my favourite people in the world and I totally stole her away into the world of Star Wars costuming, muahahaha. I know she'd be happy to hear that the group was that inspiring to someone. :)
