I've TOTALLY wanted to be a reviwer of the type that you describe, but I imagine it would go badly (i.e. LOTS of debating my gender or sexuality in the comments - that happens enough in real life already). Plus I have no camera. Plus I have no idea if I'd be any good at it, and might totally suck.

You know what, though, here's the thing -- I'm genderqueer. I make this very clear to everyone. And I always play pretty ambiguous-looking characters onscreen, or characters who are supposed to be the opposite of what my physical sex is. I'm much better known in fandom as an artist, and I also make it clear in THAT community what I am. No one has ever "debated" this. A few people have gotten it wrong, but none of them have ever argued with my correcting them, if they're people worth correcting (i.e., not trolls, just people who made an understandable but incorrect assumption).

The other thing is, you WILL totally suck at first. If you have no training or experience, it's going to take time for you to learn how not to suck. But if it's something you want to do, do it. The forums on TGWTG can be a bit slow, but there actually ARE people there who will watch your stuff and give constructive criticism and help you learn to be better at it. The forum where users can post their videos is surprisingly encouraging towards newbs.
