This series was my shit back in 1999. I remember circling which ones I wanted in the scholastic book order form for my parents to buy me. I got a free quill pen with one of them.

The best was Standing in the Light. It's the one where some random girl got kidnapped by Native Americans, and had to deal with all the struggles of learning a new language, being separated from her family, not knowing if her little brother was dead, and what not. And after living with them for a year or so, and finally accepting their culture, the Indians are attacked! D: And she lives 'cause the people realize she's the girl that's been missing for a year. And the one guy I shipped her with, the dude with the bird tattooed on his cheek, died.

I REMEMBER SOBBING FOR HOURS. THAT BOOK WAS SUCH AN EMOTIONAL TRAIN WRECK FOR MY LITTLE 5TH GRADE MIND.

...I think I have this on VHS somewhere, because they made a few into a miniseries.

OHMYGODOHMYGOD... I was racking my brain trying to remember the name of that one where the girl gets kidnapped by the indians and lives with them and THEN OHMYGOD. I bawled my fucking eyes out.

I had NO IDEA that they made into a miniseries! New life goal: must watch.

That was my favorite too! Especially since I live near where it was set. When I was our hiking I used to pretend to be her (lol I was such a dork) I think her name was Caty or something like that, and the Indians called her 'Snow Bird'
