I definitely see where you're coming from, OP. I am not a shipper by vocation - that is, I don't care for the "romantic" aspect of relationships - but I love loyal, BFF-type bonds between characters. Especially (man-)hugging! Personally, I've always found reading mushy, romantic, messily physical interactions between characters (kissing, sex) to be incredibly off-putting, regardless of things like gender or age, but hugs give me the warm fuzzies like nobody's business.

Part of me wishes more fiction culminated in adorable hugs: everything in general, not only slash. To me, they feel more meaningful than those aforementioned "messy physical interactions" because, I don't know, cozying in close with a person seems like a more open, vulnerable gesture for some reason I can't even begin to explain. My crazy anon-logic. Anyway. I don't think you're alone, OP!

Nah, I don't think you've anything to worry about. There are plenty of slash fans who are more interested in the relationship dynamic outside of sexual contact. Not everyone likes to read sex scenes, no matter what the genders involved maybe. Nothing wrong with that.

Welp, I'm gay, and I love slash so long as it sticks to cuddling/kissing times or only softcore sex at its most explicit. Why? Because while some gay chicks like m/m sex, and I can handle penises when there's a woman involved somewhere, too many penises without any ladies around completely turns me off, and anal sex is a big squick of mine, so...

I'm the same way; I have several m/m ships in which I am extremely emotionally invested, but I often kinda skim the sex scenes. It was one of many clues for me that I'm not the world's biggest penis fan...to put it mildly. >___> Not that that's the only explanation, but it certainly doesn't mean you're homophobic.

For me, I just consider describing sex like describing someone going to the bathroom: You better make it important to consider it worth putting in your story. Sex has more of an emotional significance in a story, but often I don't much care for them in "I'll be in my bunk" ways.
