I like both pairings (N/Hilbert moreso), but I've noticed that too. N in N/Hilda is always a studly memetic molestor, while in N/Hilbert he's a socially confused little woobie. And I can't help but wonder if the former happens because of Hilda's gender. :/ Like the second anon said, they're essentially the same character and N acts exactly the same no matter which one you play as.

tl;dr N IS a socially confused little woobie and it makes more IC sense for him to act that way with BOTH PCs, not just the male.

Not OP but that's why I have a hard time shipping straight couples because it turns into an issue of the female getting dominated, protected, swept off her feet, and she's suddenly delicate like glass. Some girls are into that which is cool. But, I'm not. Can't stand it.

In fact I'm not really fan of it with same-sex couples either.

As someone who ships a lot of het, I hate that too. Sucks when people turn characters around to make that happen.
Then again, people envision their player character how they want, whatcha gonna do.

I feel really dumb having to correct myself each time now. I meant manga canon, where they are very different people. In the game yes, he would act the same with both.

Not entirely no. She wouldn't be a blushy uke from either canon. There's just more personality to work with. She comes across as someone who wouldn't have as much patience with N. Maybe a little superficial?
