It's kind of funny, because out there in The World you meet all kinds of fangirls who support pairings like Soubi/Ritsuka and Sebastian/Ciel, and then here on The Internet everyone's all "HE'S 12 YOU FUCKING PERVERT"
And on the one hand, yeah, he's 12 and that's sick and it's clearly a terribly unhealthy 'relationship', but on the other hand this is fiction.

I'm going to get flamed for this, I'm sure, but it's my belief that it's fine to like shota, loli, guro and etc. in fiction as long as you realize that it's fiction and have no intent of supporting or carrying out similar acts in real life.
There /are/ fans that can't recognize those borders or who like the fictional situations as a proxy for real ones, and therein lies the problem. But seriously, why do people think it's okay to berate people who like this pairing but who would never lay a finger on anyone under the legal age of consent and who recognize the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship?

Yes! I feel like a general statement like that (your kink is okay as long as it's limited to fiction) is a great attitude. The trouble lies, of course, with people who don't know the difference.

...I mean, if the pairings I wrote were any indication of my RL relationships, I should be forbidden from having relationships for my own sake (Stockholm Syndrome everywhere!). But they aren't, of course; they just depict things I find interesting to write about. :)

Based on the phrasing of the secret, I'm content with people berating the OP because it seems that s/he IS one of those who doesn't understand that it's fine in fiction but not in reality...

And even in fiction alone, it's pretty fucked to try to claim that acceptance of homosexuality and acceptance of child exploitation are the same thing and both are something the OP should be grateful for.

Ehh, I'm personally going to give OP benefit of the doubt and assume that ze just had some unfortunate phrasing there and didn't actually mean to put 'acceptance of homosexuality' and 'acceptance of pedophilia' into the same category.

It wasn't just the (really, REALLY) unfortunate association of homosexuality and pedophilia, it was the whole connotation of how grateful they were and how they're referring to it as something beautiful.

I'm not flaming you or anything and maybe you're a better person than a cynic like me who isn't able to give the OP the benefit of the doubt but everything about how they phrased this secret makes my skin crawl. They come across like a real pedophile happy to find a fandom where they can indulge with people they think are likeminded.

... okay, re-reading the secret it really does sound like that. At the least, though, I'm going to hope that OP is just young and naive? I don't know about you, but when I was a kid [under 16, anyway] I had some pretty bizarre ideas about what constituted a good relationship.

I don't think anybody here is saying it's not ok to like shota or loli. But there is something rather creepy about OP saying that it's great fans can "look past Ciel's age" to find the beauty in the relationship. That's the kind of shit pedophiles say to try and justify their "romances" with children. Ugh.

Because let's face it, it's statutory rape no matter which way you slice it. I myself am a fan of certain shota pairings, but I certainly wouldn't call them "beautiful" examples of a relationship.

It seems to me that most people who had commented were disturbed by the anon calling the relationship "beautiful." Which seems to show a disconnect from society...and that can be dangerous.

But other than that, I do agree with you. As long as you are just fantasizing it's fine...But I do think it's dangerous to let fantasy get too caught up with you.

I have no sources for this and I don't even remember where I heard it, but there may have been a study that I may have read at some point that indicated that men who watch a lot of porn are more likely to expect their female companions to behave like porn stars. So even though I do agree that there is a line, I think the fantasy could possibly leak over to the real world if one is not careful.
