I don't mind people who ship this, but I'm hesitant to call it "beautiful". Their relationship is clearly not a healthy one, no matter which way you slice it. And that is disregarding Ciel's age.

While I enjoy the dynamic between Ciel and Sebastian, the reason I like it is because it represents a deconstruction of a romantic relationship. On the superficial level it resembles one, but it is really Ciel binding himself to a demon more and more deeply as the series goes on. It is beautiful, but I don't think that you and I are both thinking of the same kind of beauty.

The whole pleased "I'm so glad people can look past little things like the fact that one of them is a kid!" being combined with "I'm so glad that people can look past little things like the fact that they're both male!" is really, really skeeving me out.

Anytime people find hope in an adult/child pairing being people by itself is pretty damned squicky as well. Ship it if you want, be happy that you have plenty of likeminded fans, but to find hope in that? As if society as a whole is just being silly and conservative about not liking children and adults in romantic relationships? Fuck that noise.

It's kind of funny, because out there in The World you meet all kinds of fangirls who support pairings like Soubi/Ritsuka and Sebastian/Ciel, and then here on The Internet everyone's all "HE'S 12 YOU FUCKING PERVERT"
And on the one hand, yeah, he's 12 and that's sick and it's clearly a terribly unhealthy 'relationship', but on the other hand this is fiction.

I'm going to get flamed for this, I'm sure, but it's my belief that it's fine to like shota, loli, guro and etc. in fiction as long as you realize that it's fiction and have no intent of supporting or carrying out similar acts in real life.
There /are/ fans that can't recognize those borders or who like the fictional situations as a proxy for real ones, and therein lies the problem. But seriously, why do people think it's okay to berate people who like this pairing but who would never lay a finger on anyone under the legal age of consent and who recognize the difference between a healthy and unhealthy relationship?

Er, I like the pairing and all, but I would hardly call it beautiful. (Also, it's not actually canon.) They're tragic, dark, but with a closeness that comes from their secret contract, a secret that practically no one else knows about (at least not its exact terms). They understand each other well at this point, but there's still a sharp edge to it - they both respect and despise each other at the same time. Of course it's tempting to pair them up! But it's hardly a fluffy pairing.

Seriously, guys. Does anyone actually think of Ciel as a child? After all he has done? Come on. He has burnt to ashes an entire house full of children because "He knows what comes after. They will never be the same." Why would you rend your garments on that and not the fact that he's engaged to his COUSIN? And moreso, with his own relative. He's still a child, isn't he? Then, why does everybody seem not to care? Is that normal to you? (I like Elizabeth. Like, a lot. Hate towards her is the most sad thing. She actually cares for Ciel.)

I'm not gonna deny it.
