Gonna have to ask the question posted by the first anon up there: What if we don't like Rose for different reasons? Personally, I really don't like Rose that much though I wouldn't call her a Mary Sue. She has many realistic flaws and I can appreciate her as a full 3 dimensional character. It just so happens that she just the sort of character I don't. So, yeah. Don't like Rose, but I don't think she's a Mary Sue.

As for River, well... I'm on the fence about River honestly. Sometimes she just irritates me and other times, she seems incredibly interesting to me.

I hated Rose only because I hated that stupid bitch actress who played her. Teenage slut much?

Her character was OK season one, buthe then in season she was all mental-head.

River is proving to be super cool - but if she turnes out to be romantically involved with the Doctor I will fly to England and punch Steven Moffat in the face. Why can't these people just hang out and have super cool adventures? Why does someone always have to be falling in lurve?

She wasn't going at him that hard. And the Doctor wasn't exactly pulling away either, he got all flaily, and then was all 'ooh kissy' and then went flaily again =P

[Then again, for the first time ever I am pro-ship for the Doctor. Mostly because she is not all needy and dependent on him at all, and it seems like it is/was/will be a mostly 'cool fun time adventures' with sexy times afterwards.]

[Then again I quite adore River. So I am admittedly biased. Donna and River = My favourites in the nu!Who companion sense.]

I didn't notice the "ooh kissy" phase in the middle, there. Not that I think he had a problem with ANY of it so much as "LOLWTF IS THIS HAPPENING, REALLY?!?! :O" reaction... And yeah, had it not been their first kiss (from his point of view) then it wouldn't have seemed so... voracious. But for a first kiss, that was pretty intense~ X3

[I can't help it, I liked him with Rose. But I'm also a n00b fan who's barely seen anything pre-9. But I liked Rose because even if she started as a damsel in distress, she grew past that. I mean, I loved Martha's badassness, but I got bored of her pining over Ten... but... Yes, to the Donna. Yes yes yes, times ten, I fucking LOVE Donna and her COMPLETELY PLATONIC relationship with The Doctor. ♥ It was a nice change of pace for him, in my opinion. ... I just haven't found that love for River, yet... though I actually DID love her in The Library, unlike most of the ragers in this thread.]
