Anon, it would probably suck balls to be those people. You know how overworked idols are, right? You know how hard their management companies fuck them over, right (I mean, you've got DBSK there, you should know this shit)? You know that their schedules are crammed to the brim and lack of sleep (during promotion time some idols sleep less than 3 hours a night for weeks, ffs) and stress can drive them to exhaustion, collapse and illness (Hang Geng, remember him?)and mental illness (Joon, probably Leeteuk)? And then they have makeup slathered on them, they get IV'd and drink a bunch of energy drinks and go out and perform. They're perfect on the surface to cover up the fact that so many of them get destroyed on the inside by how fucked up the industry is. And that's not even counting all the other shit idols have to deal with. And yeah, there's something valiant there about how they keep on trucking despite their absolutely crazy schedules and how they get milked dry, but recognize that what they create is nothing but a surface to be enjoyed by the masses. Do you think most of them even get a modicum of creative freedom (JYJ went through hell to get theirs; Big Bang and Rain I think are the only ones who have any say on shit that goes on with them). They are beautiful at the expense of absolutely everything else. They create personas for you to idealize, but those personas aren't real. Their faces aren't real - those are makeup and photoshop and plastic surgery. Their bodies are sculpted by personal trainers, stylists and more photoshop. Their images are carefully crafted by their management companies and what they do and say is controlled by the companies that own them. Idols are 100% crafted perfections that are completely hollow inside and largely divorced from who they are away from the camera. You cannot be that. Even they couldn't be that without the help of an ENTIRE TEAM of artists and designers to create that idol image for them. You might as well aspire to be an anime character with physically impossible proportions: that's just as unrealistic.

...this has turned into a completely overlong rant, but I hope I made my point. Anyway I'd just like to say that I'm not dissing idols here... I love them for what they are, which is fake and constructed ideals, not something that can actually be attained.
