I don't watch Glee, but from what I've gathered, she's supposed to represent fat girls?

I also heard that they don't give Mercedes enough development/storylines. Why not write less for the unlikeable fat character and write more for the likeable fat character?

Not to be rude but, well, no she's not supposed to represent you.

She's a character who happens to be larger than the rest of the cast. Bigger people can be just as rude as thinner people.

Every thing in Glee is over the top. And Lauren is in-your-face. Which is better than say, sending someone to a crack house, in my book.

Or cheating on not one, but two boyfriends. Or plotting the downfall of a club that helped kids just because, or aiding in said downfall to get a cheerleading position. Or sleeping with your best friend's girlfriend. Or leading your husband on with a pretend pregnancy for months, or...

Yeah, honestly, none of the Glee kids are squeaky clean. They can all be dickweeds. Lauren's no exception and she's no worse than anyone else.

At least she apologized at the end. Which doesn't make up for the fact that what she did was horrible, but it's something for this show. I would have been more comfortable if she just confronted Quinn about it and never released it school wide; Quinn's story could have been told, Lauren could get her point across, and nobody has to look like a terrible person who you don't want to watch. I'm also surprised that it took this long for Quinn's backstory to come out so late in the game. It makes sense for her character but feels like a total retcon.

I'd be shocked if it were anything but a retcon. While I feel like it actually does fit into Quinn's backstory quite (and surpisingly) well, in the first season I feel like Quinn was portrayed as always having had everything handed to her on a plate, which was why babygate and all the ensuing drama was such a culture-shock for her.

Of course, the show does seem to have selective memory for canon and characterisation.

But fuck guys, let's not even pretend that this is even close to the worst thing someone on this show has done. Jesus, they've all been fairly horrible people at one point (I mean Quinn herself is kind of batshit, Santana flat out said she wanted to win prom queen in order to trick Brittany into being with her, Rachel sent Sunshine to a crackhouse, Sue pushed a man down a flight of stairs twice/wanted to fire a student out of a cannon, didn't Will blackmail Finn into joining glee?, and I could literally list out a hundred other examples)

THIS. I feel like people dissect Lauren way too much (and possibly do it because she is fat.) A lot of the characters are equally as horrible as her but don't get half the shit for it.

I don't think you have to like her, but don't tell me how much you love for example, Santana, and then think Lauren is the scum of the earth for being a bitch.

Yeah, she's a bitch and crossed the line. But there are plenty of characters on Glee that do that all the time and I love them anyway. (Because they're fictional characters and not people I have to deal with in real life.) So she's not getting any hate from me.

OK, what she did definitely wasn't cool, but this is Quinn we're talking about. Now they're even, if that. Quinn is a terrible person who used to be bullied and instead of learning from the experience, chose to turn around and mock people for exactly the same sort of things. I believe in taking the high road, but there's something to be said for a taste of your own medicine. ...Of course, it completely backfired because those other girls decided they loved her for being "one of them," which made NO SENSE.

I agree. It's like the fact that she is not bullied for being fat makes it okay for her to treat people like shit. Also, why was her shirt saying Bad Attitude? She always seemed proud of her attitude. Also, her singing.
