Cassandra being shunned due to her race? Because she was a pretty amazing character back in her day, or so I heard (before I think her character was derailed). Fandom for certain characters always hate it when their great characters gets shoved to the side because of race/gender/whatever.

idk I'm well behind on DC comics. The secret didn't state that she was "shunned due to her race" (obviously not something I'd be happy about). Cus if she wasn't, then why does it matter if a new Batgirl comes along?

Also she's not real so it makes no sense to hate her (a character) when she can't even, like, do anything about it.

The OP doesn't hate her, only "resents" her, but putting that aside your logic seems totally broken.

Technically no fictional character can "help" themselves, they are all written/drawn that way or whatever. But if we can't hate them, then by that logic we can't like them either. And by that logic we can't like/hate any inanimate objects.. Sure grapes taste nasty but it makes no sense to hate them because they are inanimate and can't even, like, do anything about it. Derp.

Sorry but most people don't follow that weird line of thought, especially in fandom.

Because the new batgirl regardless of quality is going to get more attention than Cassandra ever did, presumably because of her race. I honestly don't see where you are so confused.

Uh, I don't know much about Cassandra or whoever the hell that is, but characters are not real. You can resent them or even outright hate them for any reason you want.

I hate when people jump in to defend the honors of fictional characters. Sure, technically NOTHING is her fault, she is just written that way and lacks free will or a personality or a mind of her own.

I understand hating or resenting a character because you simply don't like him/her or you don't like what he/she does. Resenting a character because the author is treating another character like shit? Yeah, I don't get that.

Why is it okay to resent and hate people who aren't real, but it's not okay to defend people who aren't real? Both are equally irrational.

Stephanie doesn't have the fault that DC ppl decided to send Cassandra to Hong Kong or wherever she is now. Also, I think this is something important for Stephanie and her character has been waiting for this for too long, it's not her fault that most people get all "OMG RACES" about this. Steph and Cass are BFFs too, so I'm sure the character respects a lot the former Batgirl (c'mon, half of the things Steph learnt were thanks to Cass) and looks forward her.

It's not her fault being white girl and it's not her fault whatever plot DC has for her, so instead of making rage, enjoy the comic.
Also, I think the best Batgirl ever is Barbara XD so yeah.
